Created to be Like Christ – Episode 1

God is chasing you and I pray that He catches you.  Because if He does, He will make you like Jesus – holy and without blame.

In this first episode of Faith in the Valley, Pastor Mark Jones shares that it is God’s desire to save you and make you like Jesus.

Our text for today is Ephesians 1:3-6

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.  Ephesians 1:3-6

In this passage, we learn that God has predetermined three things for everyone who believes in Him.

  1. What you will be – God has determined that the believer will be holy and blameless.  Look at verse 4.  You will be like His Son, Jesus.  I understand that we struggle with sin.  But God gives the righteousness of Christ to those who believe.
  2. Where you will be – All that believe on Jesus Christ will be with God in heaven.  Look at verse 4b.  Even now the believer’s home is in heaven.
  3. Who we will be – Believers are adopted by God.  We become His children.  See verse 5.  Not everyone is a child of God.  Only those that believe on Jesus.  See John 1:12-13

Why does God do this?  He does it because He loves you. But more importantly, He does it for His own glory.
