Together We Worship, Grow, Serve, and Share

Worship Together

For a believer to mature, it is important that he or she worships.  This can include personal daily Bible study and prayer. It may include a time that a family or a small group come together to worship.  On this page, we are only focusing on group or congregational worship.  For a believer to fully grow, they need to be a regular participant in congregational worship.

The Nature of Worship

Romans 12:1-2 teaches that worship is the sacrifice of one's entire self as a living sacrifice.
John 4:23-24 teaches that Worship begins in a person's spirit and is done without hypocrisy.  I might also add that since God reveals Himself through Scripture, worship is the uncompromising acceptance of God's revelation of Himself in Scripture.

Forms of Worship

Wakefield focuses on six general forms of worship:
1.  Reading, preaching, and hearing of Scripture
2.  Observance of the Lord's Supper (communion)
3.  Prayer
4.  Praise and thanksgiving
5.  Singing
6.  Offering of money and other possessions
