Grow Together
If there is anything that the church has forgotten, it is Jesus' command to go and "make disciples." This command can be found in Matthew 28:19. However, Wakefield works hard at following this principle in the idea of "Grow Together."
Discipleship begins when a person receives Christ. The person is indwelt by the Holy Spirit and He begins to teach the believer. This teaching is not automatic. The new believer must start a life-long journey in God's Word, the Bible.
At Wakefield, we feel that discipleship, or growth, comes from several directions. The church provides three predominant ministries to help one in the discipleship journey: 1) Sunday School, 2) Preaching, 3) Small Groups.
Sunday School
Our Sunday School teaches the Bible and also builds key relationships. These relationships are important to the believer, for one can witness the Scripture being lived out in the open. Our Sunday School begins at 9:30a.m.
Preaching
Preaching from the Bible is a hallmark of Wakefield Valley Bible Church. Typically, Pastor Mark preaches through various books of the Bible. This allows him to teach the text in its correct context and with the correct meaning. Just as importantly, the Scripture addresses our real-world situations. The Bible is not some old book that does not relate. Even today, the Bible gives the answer to our every problem.
Small Groups
Small groups are new to Wakefield. The church leadership believes that small groups are essential to the idea of "Grow Together." It allows for a rich and rewarding study of the Scripture and it builds upon our fellowship - the "Together" aspect.
