Together We Worship, Grow, Serve, and Share

Day Three

We have learned some of the names of God and have become familiar with some of His attributes. There are other names and other attributes that we could include, but we must move on.  A great resource for further study is The Knowledge of the Holy, by A.W.Tozer or Knowing God, by J.I.Packer.  Both these resources can give you a greater understanding of the wonder of God.

For today's journey, I would like you to consider only one attribute, that of His omnipresence.  Omnipresence means that God is everywhere.  Psalm 139:7-12 explains the omnipresence of God.  There is no escaping God. He is everywhere in the totality of His person.  I share this one attribute for this reason - As we live out our lives, whether good or bad, we live them out in the presence of God.  Everything we do, we do within the full view of God.

For some, this idea can bring comfort.  There is no where that we go that God has not already gone.  He is there with us. He has gone on before us.  He is waiting at the end of our journey.  God is everywhere.  For others, this idea can be disturbing.  Often we live our lives as if no one is watching, as if no one is aware of our behavior and our thoughts.  However, we know from Psalm 139:1-6 even our thoughts are before God.  He knows them even before we think them. He sees our every act and He understands the motivation behind the act.

I hope that today's short journey will cause you to think not just about the wonder of God but about yourself.  Take some time this week and ponder how you have lived your life before God.  Look closely not only at your actions but your motives as well.  When your ready, proceed on to the next day.

The next day begins here.
