Day SixBecause of sin we are separated from God, from the one who truly loves us, from the one who has a plan and purpose for our lives. What can be done about this? Nothing, short of turning and falling.
We learn from the Bible that God sent His Son to be a sacrifice for our sin. 1 John 4:10 and Romans 5:8 are two good verses that explain this fact. God took care of the sin problem. He did so by sending His Son to pay the price for our sin.
What is meant by falling? The idea of faith is that of falling. Saving faith is when you decide not to trust anything you can do, but to fall upon, trust, Jesus Christ. John 1:12 echoes this idea. Jesus accomplished all necessary to please His Father in the matter of sin. Our salvation is due only to Him.
What is meant by turning? Turning is the idea of repenting. It is when you turn from sin and self and turn to Jesus. We turn from our former ways and fall upon (believe) on Jesus Christ.
Today's journey, then, is your most important step. If you now realize that you have been trying to please God based on your own behavior and strength, then turn from that and trust in Jesus Christ. Trust in who He is - God the Son. And trust in what He did - died on the cross for your sin. If you take this step, then truly you are a child of God and no longer seperated from the God who loves you.
