About the Church

Wakefield is a small, rural church located in New Windsor, Maryland, just minutes from Westminster, Maryland.

You might ask, ‘Why should I visit Wakefield?’ That’s a great question. Let me give you two simple reasons.

First, Wakefield is not just a congregation; we are a family. When you visit, we will treat you as an honored guest. If you continue to attend, then you too will become a part of the Wakefield family.

The second reason is even more important. At Wakefield, our focus is on Jesus Christ.

While some churches meet to discuss politics and others use church to withdraw from society, Wakefield meets to worship and serve Jesus Christ. We focus all that we do on Jesus.

So, I hope to meet you this Sunday. Our morning service starts at 10:30 AM. We also have a kid’s church program and a staffed nursery.

When you come, please introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you.

About Our Pastor

Pastor Mark Jones has been serving at Wakefield Valley Bible Church since January 2007.

Growing up in Atlanta, GA, Pastor Mark regularly attended church as a boy but didn’t accept the Lord until his service in the Air Force.

His desire is to help people grow in their faith and understanding of God. You can listen to his messages by clicking on our YouTube link at the bottom of this page.

He holds a Master of Divinity from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Science from the University of the State of New York. He is also a graduate of the Defense Language Institute and a trained leadership coach.

Pastoring is a second career for Pastor Mark. Prior to this, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a Russian linguist. He retired from active duty in 1995.

He has been married to Debbie since 1995, and they are blessed with two children and three grandchildren.

Pastor Mark is an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was thrilled when the Dawgs won the 2021 & 2022 National Championships! He is hoping they win a 3rd in 2023.

What We Believe

The Bible is the inspired Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

God is one Being, eternally existing in three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

Jesus, God the Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. He is fully God and fully man. Having lived a perfectly obedient life, He died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead three days later, and now sits at the right hand of the Father in heaven. (John 1:1-19)

The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin, regenerates sinners, and indwells, enlightens, and instructs believers. (John 16:7-15)

Sin has been passed down to all generations since Adam and Eve’s first sin. All mankind needs a Savior. That Savior is Jesus Christ. He has made our salvation possible through His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is not by good works but through personal faith in the Lord Jesus. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9)
